Nathan Leonardo is a 1997 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. Following graduation, Mr. Leonardo clerked for a Pima County Superior Court Judge. He then served as a Deputy Pima County Attorney for four years. At the County Attorney’s Office, he began prosecuting misdemeanors — primarily DUI and domestic violence cases. He then prosecuted property crimes for a short time, and ultimately joined the Gang Unit, where he prosecuted various gang-related crimes, from drug-trafficking to homicide.
In 2002, Mr. Leonardo left the Pima County Attorney’s Office to join the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Arizona. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney for three years, primarily prosecuting drug trafficking and alien smuggling crimes. Mr. Leonardo also spent two years in the Appellate Division of the United States Attorney’s Office, where he authored approximately 50 appellate briefs and argued numerous cases before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in both San Francisco and Pasadena, California.
